The Havana Chamber of Commerce annually presents its Citizen of the Year and Teacher of the Year awards to individuals recognized for outstanding service and achievements within the Community of Havana and to our students, present or past. Letters of nomination should be sent to the Havana Area Chamber of Commerce at P.O.Box 116, Havana, IL 62644 and should describe why the person deserves the honor. Visit our Eagle Days Festival the first Saturday in on February 6. Go to Dickson Mounds and enjoy a Raptor show and backyard birding activities. | | Havana Super Saturday | Come to New Central Elementary in Havana from 9am-1pm on the second Saturday in February to learn about community services Havana has to offer familes and children. Youth can enjoy several activities in the school gym, including a "bungee run". Admission is free. |

| Event | Description | | Havana All-Town Garage and Sidewalk Sale | The Havana All-Town Sidewalk and Garage Sale and Antique, Arts and Crafts Fair, sponsored by the Havana Chamber of Commerce, is typically held the last Saturday in May. However, 2010's sale will be June 5th to avoid Memorial Day Weekend. Sales will be held at participating residences and downtown. Downtown merchants will be holding special sales during this event. This event is held rain or shine. Maps showing sale locatns will be passed out in front of the Lawford Theater starting at 7 am. | | Spring Carnival | Havana's Spring Carnival, sponsored by the Havana Fire Department, is held the third weekend in May. The carnival features various amusements and food. This event is a major fundraiser for the Havana Fire Department. |

Entertainment will return in September at the Riverfront Park Stage.
All brown bag it events are free to the public.

| Event | Description | | Havana Fourth of July Celebration | The Havana Fourth of July Celebration, hosted by the Havana Chamber of Commerce, is comprised of several events including a parade and a fireworks display! The 2010 parade will be held on Saturday, July 3rd at 10:00AM, Downtown Havana. Fireworks will be held on the Fourth of July. Following the parade is the Little Miss Sparkler and Little Mister Firecracker Pageant. The Havana Fire Department water fight will also take place after the parade.
The fireworks will begin at dusk at the Havana High School football field, located at the corner of McKinley Avenue and Highway 97. This event is free to the public. Seating for the fireworks is available in the bleachers or on the practice field. | | World's Largest Fish Fry | July 16th and 17th come to Bath Illinois Free Fish Fry.

| Event | Description | | 8th Annual Riverfront Car Show and Cruise | Cruise-in at McDonalds / Car Show at Riverfront Park, Havana, IL 62644
The 8th Annual Riverfront Car Show and Cruise-In will be held August 13th and 14th, 2010. Festivities begin Friday night, August 13th, with a Cruise-In at McDonalds in Havana beginning at 6:00 p.m. sponsored by the Coachman Car Club and McDonalds. A DJ will provide music and the Golden Arch Trophy will be awarded in addition to a $50.00 cash prize. Questions regarding the Cruise-In can be answered by calling Monte Graham at (309) 759-4850. The Car Show will be held August 14th at Riverfront Park in Havana. Saturdays activities will include an Antique Tractor Show and Antique Tractor Pull. Registration for the Car Show will be from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m. Pre-registrations are accepted at a cost of $15.00 which includes a free commemorative T-shirt and dash plaque to the first 100 entries. Registration the day of the show is $20.00. Food vendors will be available along with music provided by a DJ. | Event | Description | | Polka Pace Race | The Polka Pace Race is a 5K run through the
streets of Havana, including a jaunt through our
scenic Riverfront Park and down our historic
brick streets. The race is part of the annual
Oktoberfest Celebration and is held the first
Saturday after Labor Day, at 8 am. Activities include German bands, arts and crafts, a parade, and of course, bratwurst, sauerkraut, beer, wine, and other foods.

| Event | Description | | Christmas Parade | A Child's Magical Christmas Parade, held the Saturday after Thanksgiving, begins at 10 am in downtown Havana. Children can meet with Santa at the Santa House on the Main Street side of the courthouse square. | | Courtyard of Lights | The Courtyard of Lights Celebration will be held November 27, 2010.
The Mason County Courtyard of Lights ceremony will begin at 7:00pm the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The Muddy River Brass Band will be on hand at 6:30pm to play traditional Christmas music and the program will include a sing-along. The holiday display includes a Christmas Tree Lane, comprised of trees donated by local organizations as well as the Remembrance Tree, where individuals have the opportunity to honor loved ones by placing ornaments on the tree. |
| Event | Description | | Holiday Tour of Homes | The Havana Chamber of Commerces’ Holiday Tour of Homes will be held on December 5, 2010 from 1:30 to 4:30 pm with four fantastic houses ready for Christmas and holiday visitors.
Tickets will be $6 per person to visit the four homes, or $10 per person for those who wish to ride the Trolley to visit the four sites.
Tickets will be available at the each of the homes the day of the tour.
Histories and unique features of the homes will be published on the tour program. |
